• ANNUAL ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS |

PWC is looking for a few good projects, people and organizations whose deeds in protecting or improving the Perkiomen Watershed merit public recognition. To be eligible, nominees or nominated projects must be located within the 362 square-mile Perkiomen Watershed, comprised of all or part of 57 municipalities within Montgomery, Bucks, Berks and Lehigh Counties. Awards will be given in the categories listed below, although candidates may not be selected in every category. Awards will be presented at the PWC Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, October 23, 2008. All nominations will be judged by site visits or interviews performed by the PWC Events Committee. MUNICIPAL: A municipality or municipal agency within the watershed that has made a significant contribution to improving or preserving the Perkiomen Creek Watershed (for example, through environmentally sensitive open space acquisitions, natural resources protection zoning, watershed planning or private-public partnerships).
FRIEND OF THE WATERSHED: An individual who has made a significant contribution to improving and preserving the Perkiomen Creek Watershed.
LAND USE: An individual, organization or project that has contributed to improving or preserving the Perkiomen Creek Watershed and that exemplifies responsible land use and stewardship that is protective of water quality and the natural environment.
KIDS MAKING A DIFFERENCE: An individual or group of individuals under 18 years of age who have made a significant contribution to improving or preserving the Perkiomen Creek Watershed (i.e. Scouts, Environmental Club, Service Club).
PROTECTOR OF THE WATERSHED: A non-profit, service organization or community group that has made a significant contribution to improving or preserving the Perkiomen Creek Watershed.
CORPORATE: A corporation that has demonstrated a commitment to or improvement of the Perkiomen Creek Watershed by accomplishments such as exemplary corporate environmental management or outstanding support of community watershed activities or initiatives.
TEACHING EXCELLENCE: A teacher who demonstrates a keen awareness of, understanding about and commitment to the natural world. Recognized by peers as an outstanding teacher/learner, this individual possesses the skills required to initiate change in a student’s perspective about their dependence upon the natural systems.
Awards will be presented at the PWC Annual Environmental Awards Banquet, Thursday, October 23, 2008.
