2013
Congratulations to all racers and Lenape Survival Challenge Champions Chris Smith and Jonathan Kimura!

Competing against a record number of other two-person teams on a gorgeous day in the watershed, the swift footed pair of Smith and Kimura raced to finish first with a winning time of :59:05.

Both Californians and Lockheed Martin TRIBE members, teammates Smith and Kimura have competed in the Lenape Challenge previously.  Smith was close runner up in last year’s race.

While the 2013 Lenape Challenge featured an entirely new off-road course through the picturesque fields, trails and woods of Schwenksville and a steeper Spring Mt. climb, the new route didn’t seem to impact the winners’ pace.  Shooting out to an impressive early lead in the 4.6 mile trail run and 2+ mi canoe race, Smith and Kimura maintained their number one position throughout the Challenge.

Rounding out the top three finishing spots were fellow Lockheed Martin TRIBE members and race veterans George Pickul and Adam Prince in second place with a time of 1:00:58 and Daniel Kennedy and Pete Michener (West Philly Runners TRIBE) in third with a time of 1:03:53.

For the sixth straight year, Lockheed Martin scored the TRIBE trophy with a combined team time of 3:08:34!  In addition to the Smith/Kimura and Pickul/Prince teams, local Lockheed Martin TRIBE participant (and member of the Conservancy!) Liz Ludwigson and her teammate Mike Bizal helped Lockheed secure the 2013 TRIBE trophy.

The unstoppable Lockheed Martin teams each swept their respective categories with wins.

In keeping with the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy's mission,
this unique two-person race celebrates the connection between
land and water.

This year, you'll start at the Conservancy's Brownstone Barn and
enjoy a refreshing dash through the fields, woods and trails
of Schwenksville to Spring Mountain.  After scrambling up
a steeper slope than in years past to the top of the hill, you'll
eventually charge back down to the canoes.

Then you and your buddy are off to paddle hard for 2+ miles
on the Perkiomen to the finish!  Are you in?

All participants head home with a Lenape tech t-shirt.

Snag a teammate and register by April 20, 2013!
