What is a Watershed?
A watershed is a stream, creek, or river drainage area. It's boundaries are defined by the natural ridges separating one drainage basin from another. Check out this video created by the US Department of Agriculture.
What is a Conservancy?
A Conservancy is an organization or area designated to conserve and protect natural resources. The Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy's offices and property are used for Environmental Education classes and programs, for Community Programs, and for Conservation Projects such as rain gardens, riparian buffers, and a native orchard.

The Perkiomen Watershed
Our Watershed encompasses 362 square miles (231,680 acres) and 55 municipalities in four Pennsylvania counties: Berks, Bucks, Lehigh and Montgomery.
The Conservancy's leadership in watershed preservation is unmatched!
Our Award Winning conservation and environmental education programs reach thousands of people each year. As a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are dependent on memberships, donations,
grants, and sponsorships.
The Environmental Education staff and volunteers conduct natural history and water resources programs that are designed to be hands-on and keep participants active and involved. School programs meet the various educational needs of children as young as three years old, expanding the knowledge and experiences with each age group through high school.
Adults and children participate in guided workshops, walks and presentations that cover a broad range of topics and provide opportunities to explore many unique locations within the Perkiomen Creek’s watershed.
The Conservancy’s conservation projects provide opportunities for citizen actions and promote involvement by community residents who can help change their local landscapes through volunteerism. The premier stewardship event is the annual Stream Clean-up which involves over 1,700 volunteers working throughout the watershed to remove tons of trash, tires, and scrap metal from the many tributaries of the Perkiomen Creek. Conservation projects range from simple tree planting projects to more intense invasive plant removals and streambank restorations. Addressing the impacts of stormwater is a large part of the conservation programs.
The Conservancy engages the residents and businesses of the watershed communities through a variety of special events. Businesses participate through sponsorships and in-kind services. Participants enjoy exciting events and opportunities to explore unique features of the watershed. Each event includes information about the Conservancy and the many wonderful natural assets of the Perkiomen Creek Watershed.
